Hue and Cry - Truth

"I love this song - I know it was written about a certain American military man, but with a little tweek, it could mean something else entirely. Great to know it's still being played live... excellent."

"My first thoughts were that the summer has come early! Musically, this is sundrenched and cool - maybe a bit too familiar as in places it sounds very much like something you've heard before? :/ I know what I mean! The instant stand-out track is…"

Welcome to my "Open Sewer" page fellow Ordinary Angels!

I've been a fan since "Seduced and Abandoned" way back in 1987... I bought "Labour of Love on 7" single, loved the B-side which was "Widescreen" and seeked out the aforementioned LP on gorgeous vinyl! That was me well and truly hooked.. still am!

Please feel free to contact me about anything and everything...
Look forward to hearing from you...

Best,
J.

The Saga of uploading photos....

Posted on February 25, 2009 at 2:25 3 Comments

I think i may well be in the minority here, but is anyone else having problems getting their photos uploaded?

After a couple of days of trying, i have only managed 5 photos posted.

I have recieved a message from Pat & Greg explaining that i'm not allowed to post "my own" photos on this site.

I both understand and was fully aware of the rules concerning turning my home page into my own personal photo album! I don't consider for one minute that the photos i… Continue

Well, seeing as you've gone AWOL again (hence the ponce comment), I was asking if you were coming to Glesgay to the Xmas gig - email me your new number if you like.

Rgds.

Hi Jamie, sorry for not replying any sooner...

I did something stupid. I read jazz & rock drummer Bill Bruford's autobiography. Completely robbed me of the wish to make cover versions on a computer! I probably won't be making any backing tracks anytime soon... I'm sorry for letting you down.

Hello fine fella,

Jamie, I'm flattered - believe me but I am extraordinarily limited on piano (ask any pianist) and would be a little self conscious playing for someone else!

Add to that, the fact that I don't have the tech savvy to put anything onto this thing and third, I've never worked out the chords for 'Shadow...'. I'll start there next time I'm at the piano and will let you know how it goes.

Hope all's good.

Cheers.

Hi Lister (now I've had them all!),

'Shadow Of A Man'...
'That's a challenge. But I'll try! Great tune. Depressing, but great :)

So what do you think - if I put another musical style to it - is it sacrilege or a good idea? It's up to you.

Hi Michael,

That's great! We need some fresh blood!

I was going to say... Hymn To Hands? Poets Day? But then I saw them on your player... Man... You have a lot of tracks there I don't know.

Anyway, I have no backing tracks. But I'd like to make them. So if 'I'll Be There For You' is the one you want to do most, I'll find a way to make a backing track for that. I hope I can do a bit more than provide shoddy keyboard sounds... but I have no Mike Stern or Randy Brecker at the ready! I'm not assuming we could ever make anything as great as the originals, just like to have a bit of fun with it.

So it's really your call. Name the tune and I'll get started on it! And if you want it in any different style or setting, let me know. And if the chords are too complicated for me, I'll turn to the wise Paul McNally...

ciao,
Emmanuel
