You Do Something To Me

"I'm a huge Weller fan - but like Jeremy would love to see this on Private Stage; great cover as usual - nothing to touch Pat's vocal anywhere this side of the great crooners!"

Hue and Cry in India

Hi Guys

I'm working in India all this week - surely I'm your first fan on the sub continent. Do I win a prize?

Funks Like a Mother

One of my favourite H&C intro's of all time came at this year's gig in Brum. Pat (who I must admit baffles me with big words), introduced "Heading for a Fall" by saying it "Funks like a Mother..!". Well, that quote has stayed with me and I'm always searching for songs, that do exactly that, so they could be included on the Private Stage.

One track, that sticks in my mind; also Funks Like a Mother - The Northern Soul Classic "The Snake" by Al Wilson.

It Funks Like a Mother

I'm always looking for great songs that I believe will fit perfectly to the H&C sound. Well, one of Pat's most memorable quotes (and one I can understand!) relates to "Heading for a Fall" and as he introduced the song in Brum he said, "It funks like a Mother!"; well, the same can be said for the Northern Soul classic, "The Snake" by Al Wilson.

Go on guys, give us a version for Private know you want to....

Found this link- a review of the gig in Brum!

One of the fist reviews that I've found for the gig in Birmingham in March. Some excellent photo's to go with it.

Enjoy folks, see you soon

What next then guys?

Hi Steven, I guess you have asked to be friends as i am a felllow Midlander. (Well i am originally from Lancashire, but that is by the by!) And that you are probably going to the Tamworth gig. I just had a look on your blogs and I also love the song The Snake. I didn't know who it was by and only heard it last December - it's a Fab tune.

Hello Steve, how are you? Nice to hear from you. Will be really great if a few of us can meet up for a fan gathering. I hope Pat and Greg are going to keep the momentum going now with some more gigs as it would be a shame to let it go quiet for a while. Sheila x

Hi, and yes, I'd be up for a Midlands H&C fan get-together. Would be lovely. What were you thinking of...Brum perhaps? Off to the Academy main stage again tonight to see James Morrison..should be good. If only there was a gig every weekend to look forward to, I'd be a happy bunny!
Hope you're having a nice weekend, Sheila x

Hiya, S'all a bit quiet on the hue and cry front isn't it! After all those years of inactivity I just want tours and releases to go on and on. LOL Durham was really cool. The band was really relaxed and it was a smashging wee theatre although I just don't think this band is suited to seated venues! Caught Paul Mills band "Mind Excursion" in Edinburgh on Friday night..very cool!

Hoping you're having a grand weekend :-) can't believe its already been almost a month since the H&C gig. Can't wait for them to come back round again. Have been listening to all the old H&C albums of late...great stuff. Lets hope it wont be too long to wait until they tour again :-)

Thanks for the comment. I wish I'd have checked this site out before the gig - if I'd known it was this good I'd have definitely checked it out - could have made friends with a few fellow fans beforehand. As it was, I took a mate to the gig who wasn't really into them and its not quite the same as going to a gig with a fellow fan :-)
I really enjoyed the gig, loved it when they started with Strength to Strength and couldn't believe I still knew the words even though I hadn't listened to the album in years!
are you into any other Scottish bands? Apart from H&C I was also a big fan of Del Amitri, Deacon Blue, Aztec Camera etc There's something about the Scots that make great song writers. Anyway...nice to make your acquaintance, Sheila

Hi Steve, it was fantastic, wish it had gone on a bit longer! Agree "Violently" was one of the highlights, along with Mother Glasgow, love that song. What were your highlights? Thought I saw you at the bar before the bands came on, but couldn't see a woman with you and I know your wife was coming along, so didn't go and say hello just in case...! Told you I was managing to drag my boyfriend along to it, he only knew a couple of the songs, but had a good night anyway. Let's hope they don't leave it so long to tour again!!
