Week 23 of "Hot Wire" Album (02/08/10) - Not a good week. Managed to finish compiling just one more drum take for the song "Summer Head Daze" due to the fact that my trusted Mac G5 computer "died" on Thursday. 6 years of faithful service, many… Continue

After all the superb Television appearances of Hue And Cry that have been put on YouTube recentlyClick here
I am longing for the original promo videos of all the Hue & Cry singles. The first two albums are fairly readily available but from "Stars Crash Down" onwards I have only seen bits of the actual promo videos. I used to have the promo videos [1 track] of "My Salt… Continue

Week 18 of "Hot Wire" Album (21/06/10) - An eventful week! ... Firstly, I'm moving each weekly blog to their own post on the Blog tab rather than continuing the stream on the one post ... should be neater ... So... having a brief scan of members, there seems to be a dominance of men as members. But you wouldn't get that from either the number of men/women at concerts or the number of women in pix on this site. Does this mean that the Music Club appeals more to men than women? Or is this because less women are online?
Just food for thought...

Just wanted to say thanks to Pat and Greg for a fantastic weekend!
Both gigs were amazing and it was good to hear a mix of new and old across both sets. Really enjoyed Saturday - the champagne, the soundcheck, the meet and greet, the buffet and then the gig ... it was so well organised and I know everyone appreciated how much effort had gone into making everything run so smoothly.
It truly was a great weekend, well worth battling snow and motorways from Newcastle for.… Continue

Small moment of deep Scottish connection here, that has to be noted...
Greg and I once did a version of a song called The Jute Mill Song (They Fairly Mak' Ye Work), which we always thought that Micheal Marra (the great composer of Mother Glasgow) had written - he was the guy we heard performing it first.
But it turns out it was written by Mary Brooksbank, a Scottish communist-feminist - and… Continue

Just received my xmas day box which has managed to get to wing its way to Western Australia. Its a really special thing indeed. Its a pity that not many more musicians do things like this for their fans.
I was playing the music the other day on our company christmas do and the track "Someday at Christmas" went down a storm, it was funny watching 20 yr old aussies singing Hue and cry's version

I think I found this site about a year ago, now and I recently found myself having a wee delve into old blogs and posts and photies.
Without getting TOO gushy, (am prone to the odd gush! ) what a fab year it's been!
We've been spoiled rotten with freebies and tours and insights into the behind the scenes ..and of course there's so much more still to come!
My own highlights have been the Feb 21st ABC gig ( the beginning of some beautiful friendships!!) and seeing the guys perform… Continue

Saw Hue and Cry at the Lemon Tree, Aberdeen
Hue and Cry were big in the 1980s but they are not ones to let nostalgia get the better of them.
The two brothers played a stripped down gig with Pat Kane's smooth, soulful vocals and Greg on piano.
It gave the night an intimate feel as they played old songs, and tracks of the new album.
And, fresh from an appearance at a Burns' Festival in Ayr, they played two traditional songs by the Bard,… Continue

UPDATE (Sat, Apr 14):
Sorry about tech glitches everyone - it worked pretty well the last time on Ning, so we're going to inquire of them what the problem was. I think all your enthusiasm overloaded their system! Hopefully fixed for next week, when Greg will take on the conversation.

We're trying a bit of an experiment for a few weeks, maybe longer... the Ning platform that the Music Club is based on allows us to have a… Continue
