Week 38 of "Hot Wire" Album 23/11/10 - Got a meeting later on today with Pat and H&C HQ to decide on how we best proceed with "Hot Wire" ... I guess I've just needed a break from it ... checked how far we'd got last nite ... still sounds so funky and good, just need a plan on how to finish it ... will keep u posted!

I'm so looking forward to the Glasgow Kiss Weekend in Feb 2011. Dying to put together the set list for it. A weekend of love songs from Pat and I (I'm gonna ask him to sing "Love Me Tender" :). Please use the comments box below and let us here your suggestions for songs for us to do.
I was organising some hard drive archiving yesterday and stumbled upon this video from the ABC, Glasgow, Feb 2009 ...

... How good is that? ... If u remember, I had a huge hard drive failure in March 2009 and I lost 75% of the video footage from this gig, including this film ... What a find!

Thanks to Graham, Paul, Erin, Cat, Michelle, Darren, Jamie, Kenny ... and the other 1,200 people that were there :)

I did more music for the Song Frames you guys requested ... revisited some songs I hadn't thot about for years (more on that later) ... thank you so much for ordering these, they look great!

As you know, I've been building our Bandcamp site over the last year ... Our full back catalogue for you to listen to! Every week I'm now going to feature a song from our catalogue and explain a little bit about it. Please add to the discussion by posting in the comments box and requesting any song from our catalogue you'd like me to feature and I'll pick one.

This week's song is requested by Music Club member Paul...Ordinary Angel ... "Life As Text" from our 1991 Album "Stars Crash Down"

I can't remember writing any of the songs from "Stars Crash Down" :( ... I was going through a rough separation from a 5 year relationship at the time ... and also my dad lost his sister, May during the recording ... not good times! but I remember we went to Miraval Studios in the South Of France for 5 weeks to record some of it tho ... see images below.

... I guess Brad Pitt and Angela Jole have it now! ... I'm sure I left a jacket there, must give'm a call and see if they still have it :) It was a beautiful place ... but we didn't get much work done, so we came home and went to Castlesound Studios to get back to work. I noticed from the credits on "Life As Text" that I play bass! ... man, I so can't remember doing that. Re-living this brings back so much I'd forgotten ... I think I now know why it was our last album on Circa Records. Shame tho, it is a good record. Nice gtr playing from my old friends Bobby Henry and Brian McFie on "Life As Text". I've been working with these guys again this year, on separate projects ... they still got it! ... I'm sorry I don't remember much about this song, maybe Pat can help. G

Apple Loops

Spent some time at my friend's new studio on Saturday nite, helping him get everything synced. Based around a 27" iMac and Logic 9. Its the first time I've tried Logic 9 (I'm still on version 8) ... version 9 feels great. We opened a couple of bottles of wine and started writing using the loops that came with Logic and my friend's collection of Guitars, Keyboards and odd vintage instruments ... what a great nite. You can get great results very quickly using the Apple Loops facility in Logic 9 ... very fluent workflow. I use 3rd party Apple loops collections from "DrumsOnDemand" and "BigFishAudio" ... and I also create my own ... If I ever get around to offering the multi-tracks of our albums I will create Apple Loops of each track so you can easily manipulate them. You can also use Apple Loops in Garageband, they are great for writing with! Here's some of the ones I use.

How about "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" for the Glasgow Kiss?

Oi Gregster you missed me off the credits for the ABC video you posted!!

Im the fat Shane Warne lookalike that says "SUPERB" almost as many times as Cat says "CRACKING".

As for a love song request and i am going to be totally predictable here but "Too shy to say" would be both cracking and superb.

Ya know what song is on Sky a lot just now promoting some TV show that I think would be an awesome H & C cover is Dylan's / Adele's "Make You Feel My Love".

Love songs:
Donny Osmond - Young Love. Loved this when Pat and Eddie Reader done the cover for the TV programme.
Dean Martin - You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You
Anne Murray - You Needed Me. Makes me cry :'(
Captain and Tennille - Love Will Keep Us Together. Cause this could be funky!
Luther Vandross - Always and Forever.

I could list hundreds but if you play Just Say You Love Me we will all be happy :)

Oh :) ... I bet he's gonna get some payback. I'd like to hear his thoughts on Life as Text (thanks for selecting it). I like the horn sound and the Hammond and I've always really liked that song. Actually just having played that album again I couldn't help thinking Vera Drives had the potential to be a good follow on hit to "Linda". It's a similar type of song in my opinion and perhaps that was the intention. I don't think it was a single though.

Hey come on someone else request a song of the week.
